Personal and Professional Development

Every leader must accept personal responsibility for their personal and/or professional development. What does certification mean? For some, it is an opportunity to have an edge to advance in your career. To others, it is a vehicle for continuing education requirements to be met or to advance in salary. For others, it may be an internal motivation for achievement…to step up to the plate and to lead by example in building your career and setting yourself apart from the competition by establishing for yourself a comprehensive plan for self improvement.

The constant pursuit of personal/professional development and certification affords every athletic administrator a ‘Blueprint” for achieving professional growth through a systematic, progressive process of developmental experiences. Don’t worry about being the best, be your best by working in your strengths every day.

“You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.”                                                               John C. Maxwell

A Profile of Athletic Administration

This NIAAA publication is a reference for educational leaders, building principals, district superintendents, and the board of education. The position of the athletic administrator must be founded upon the proper foundation, supported and evaluated with consistency, and encouraged to grow personally and professionally.

WHY REQUIRE COACHES TO BE CERTIFIED?

Why should all school districts require all interscholastic coaches and athletic administrators earn their national certification? That question is being asked across the United States by school administrators, coaches, and parents.

The answer to this question involves the health and safety of the students who participate, the legal responsibilities of the school district and coaches, and the elevation of interscholastic athletics to a profession through ongoing professional development.
